July 26 thru 27….Saturday starting at 9:00 am and ending at 4:30 pm; I’ll be hosting a seminar on Shorin Ryu
Matsumura Seito Karate Kata. This will be a review of all Matsumura Seito Kata. On Sunday we will review
Matsumura Itto Ryu Kenjutsu Kata. Cost is $40 for Association Members and $50 for non members.
August 30 thru 31…..Saturday starting at 9:00 am and ending at 4:30pm…Seminar on Kusanku Mai.
Sunday’s training will be on self defense techniques. Cost $40 for members and $50 for non members.
September 13 and 14….starting at 9:00 am Saturday and finishing at 2:00 pm Sunday. Training will be
on the Bo Kata from tiny Sesoko Shima (Sesoko no Island) this kata is called Sesoko no Kun and is one
of my favorites, as an interesting note: In the past I have performed karate kata at the Austin TX.
Okinawa Tomo no Kai (Okinawan People’s Association). One of the participants of this activity has been
a lady named Shigeko Burnie; her maiden name was Shigeko Sesoko….this is her family kata as her
ancestors were the lords of Sesoko Shima. Cost is $40 for members and $50 for non members.
September 27….9:00 am to 4:30 pm training will be on Gojushiho and Rohai Kata.
Cost is $40 for members and $50 for non members.
September 30….9:00 am at Charley Dean’s Dojo near Montgomery TX. We will resume our White Crane Study
Group. Check with Charlie Dean for cost. Charlie’s phone number is (936-449-6111).
October 25 thru 26…9:00 am Saturday… Pai Sai Kata (Sho, Dai and Nishiara Village) we will finish at 4:30 pm.
Sunday Oct. 26, We will practice Kenjutsu kata.
November 6, 7, 8, and 9….”Three days of the Crane”
Starting at 2:00 pm Thursday until noon Friday we will study Matsumura Hakutsuru Sho….Friday afternoon until Saturday afternoon, we will study Matsumura Hakutsuru Chu (Hakutsuru Mai); Saturday afternoon until Sunday afternoon we will study Matsumura Hakutsuru Dai. These kata represent some of the most rare and advanced
Kata of Okinawan Karate. We will study them in their entirety including Bunkai.
-Cost all three days $100 members and $120 non members.
-For two days training cost is $75 members, and $90 non members.
-For one day training cost is $40 for members and $60 non members.

December 13 thru 14…Special class on the old “Fist Loaded Weapons of Okinawa”.
These include Jiffa or Hair pin, Chisei Kun Bo, Tekchu, Tetsuko, Tekko plus others. During modern times
people seem to take pride by calling karate a weaponless art; however, the Okinawan arts were never
weaponless. The Okinawans always had a weapon….this weapon may have been a hair pin or an obi (belt),
the shuttle from a loom or any number of common objects that could be turned into a weapon.
Cost will be $50 for members and $60 for non members.
