on the Bo Kata from tiny Sesoko Shima (Sesoko no Island) this kata is called Sesoko no Kun and is one

of my favorites, as an interesting note: In the past I have performed karate kata at the Austin TX.

Okinawa Tomo no Kai (Okinawan People’s Association). One of the participants of this activity has been

a lady named Shigeko Burnie; her maiden name was Shigeko Sesoko….this is her family kata as her

ancestors were the lords of Sesoko Shima. Cost is $40 for members and $50 for non members.

December 13 thru 14…Special class on the old “Fist Loaded Weapons of Okinawa”.
These include Jiffa or Hair pin, Chisei Kun Bo, Tekchu, Tetsuko, Tekko plus others. During modern times

people seem to take pride by calling karate a weaponless art; however, the Okinawan arts were never

weaponless. The Okinawans always had a weapon….this weapon may have been a hair pin or an obi (belt),

the shuttle from a loom or any number of common objects that could be turned into a weapon.

Cost will be $50 for members and $60 for non members.

For all activities unless otherwise directed please RSVP by the Wednesday before the activity.
